New York Islanders sign Johan Sundström

The New York Islanders have signed Johan Sundström. Frölunda´s forward has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract. The Islanders selected Sundström in the second round, 50th overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft.

In 2011-12, 19-year-old Sundström scored 11 points in 49 games during his second season in Elitserien. Sundström also represented Sweden at the 2012 World Junior Championships, scoring five points in six games to help Sweden capture a gold medal.

Fabian Brunnström returns to Elitserien

After four seasons in North America forward Fabian Brunnström returns to Sweden and Elitserien. The 27-year-old has signed a 3-year-deal with Frölunda.

During his time in NHL Brunnström has played for Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings and in AHL he has represented Manitoba Moose, Texas Stars, Toronto Marlies and Grand Rapids Griffins.

- When I decided to return to Elitserien Frölunda was my only option. I have always liked to play in Scandinavium. Now, as a home player, it´s going to be awesome, Brunnström says to Frölundas website.

Matt Duchene eager to play

In Saturday´s game against MODO Colorado Avalanche's Matt Duchene will make his season debut in Elitserien.

Duchene will play in a line together with Frölunda's latest new player, Chicago Blackhawks Viktor Stålberg, and the former Detroit Red Wings player Fabian Brunnström. Here you find Frölunda-TV's pre game interview with Duchene.

Duchene and the others in Frölunda really have to watch out for St Louis Blues´ Alexander Steen, who plays in MODO during the NHL lockout, since the Blues-player so far has recorded 13 points in 8 games.
